They are our parents and grandparents and great grandparents. They are our friends and our neighbors. They are part of the story that has helped to always keep our country great. What we eat, what we look like, what we do for fun have all been influenced by people who came from somewhere else. This season, Sup! invites you to cook with us and meet our friends who have roots in Italy, Burkina Faso, and Peru.
Chef Donna (Cosima) will show us how to make arancini — a Sicilian speciality. Chef Donna’s cooking is inspired by her family’s Southern Italian heritage. Dinner at her Grandma Cosima’s house was an occasion to bring friends and family together over good food. So glad Chef Donna’s grandparents brought this tradition of good food and good company with them to Baltimore!
Chef Mina (Delights by Mina) will be cooking Saghbo with us. In search of opportunity, Chef Mina came to Baltimore from Burkina Faso, a small landlocked country in the Northwest of Africa. Her entrepreneurial spirit and talent in the kitchen led her to open a wonderful and welcoming restaurant in Baltimore.
Chef Jose (Puerto 511) inspires us with cooking inspired by his mom’s cooking. With Chef Jose, we will make solterito de quinua , a modern dish made from a traditional grain from his native Peru. Cooking quinoa with Chef Jose makes us both happier and healthier!
Looking forward to sharing our adventures with you!
