All of our Indian treats!

Hi Friends!

Thai eggplants

Last Saturday, Sara and I bought a lot of awesome Indian snacks from The Patel Brothers Market. In fact, we have never bought as many snacks for any other segment of Snacking Around the World!  The market was very big and the everything was so colorful and interesting, it was hard to stop picking out fun treats! We saw such cool things like baby mangoes, green longbeans (they were soooo long), and small Thai eggplants.

Baby mangoes!

I could not wait until Sunday to try our snacks. Everything we bought had interesting textures and flavors, like nothing I have every tried before! I had spicy dry dumplings. They tasted like a dry samosas. Our drink was made of almonds but with a rosewater flavor that tasted like the Turkish Delight we had on our Turkey show!

Jalebi is deep fried and soaked in sugar syrup.

Now for the sweet treats! I picked out Jalebi because of the orange flavor and funnel cake swirls! Jalebi is basically fried flour dipped in sugar syrup. It was sticky to touch and there was sugar syrup in the middle

Pink Cham Cham was delicious! This pink treat is paneer cheese coated with sugar and coconut. I loved the coconut flavor! Paneer is a fresh cheese common in India that doesn’t melt!
